For the first time we suggest you a simple test that helps you to understand the basic functions of File Replication Monitor. To execute this test you need to create two folders: C:\TMP as a source file location and D:\TMP as a target file location. The task will copy new files found in the source folder to the target folder.
| 1. | Make sure that Net BIOS over TCP/IP is enabled and Client for Microsoft Networks is installed on your computer. |
| 2. | Start the File Replication Monitor service (menu File->Server control->Start executable from File Replication Monitor Control Center). ![]() The green light at the bottom bar of main window indicates that the Server is started: |

| 3. | Click menu Tasks->Add task. The New Task Wizard will start. |

| 4. | On the first Wizard's page select Backup/Replication item and press Next button: |
| 5. | Select Folder item on the next Wizard's page: |
| 6. | In the folder properties window specify the source folder location C:\Tmp and press OK button:![]() Go to the next screen pressing Next button. |
| 7. | On the next Wizard's step select the way how to follow the source folder and mark Incremental item, then press Next button: |
| 8. | Next step specifies what to do with the new files. Select Copy item and press Next button: |
| 9. | On the next step we will specify what should we do if there is a file with the same name in the target folder. Let's select Always item and press Next button:![]() |
| 10. | Next we have to select a target folder so press Transfer files to button and select Folder menu item:![]() |
| 11. | In the target folder properties window enter a path to the folder and press OK button:![]() Go forward pressing Next button. |
| 12. | Let's skip Step 9 for the first time, so just press Next button: |
| 13. | Step 10 specifies a schedule the task will work on, for this time select Manual item and press Next button: |
| 14. | We will not be using any start parameters for our task: So just press Next button. |
| 15. | Next step allows assign a group name for the creating task. Let's it will be Default group:![]() Press Next button to go forward. |
| 16. | The final screen allows to specify the task name and any comments and notes regarding the task:![]() |
| 17. | To save the task press Finish button: |
| 18. | The task settings window will be open, you can verify your task settings and close the window. |
| 19. | Select the task name in the main window task list and press Tasks -> Start Task menu items:![]() |
| 20. | After the task is started copy any file to folder C:\TMP. |
| 21. | Force the task to scan the source folder and select Tasks -> Check Now menu items: |
| 22. | The task will copy a file you have copied above to the target folder D:\Tmp. A report message you will find in the log window: |
