The choice of the monitoring mode depends on the nature of the selected source object. Below the valid modes of backup and monitoring for different types of objects are given:
|
|
Full/Always
The event occurs at each start of the task according to the schedule. The specified file operations are performed over the monitored files (see File operations), the applications are started (see Launching programs) and messages are dispatched (see dispatch of messages).
Incremental/Creating
The event occurs, when the monitored object is modified:
| • | if the object is a file or a web page and it was modified, |
| • | if the object is a group of files or directories and some files were modified or the new files fitting with the given mask appeared |
| • | if the object for ICMP (ping) check was selected and it was unavailable for monitoring before the check. |
In this case file operations are performed over the modified files, the applications are launched and the messages are dispatched.
Decremental/Deleting
The event occurs, when the inspected object has become inaccessible for monitoring:
| • | a file, a group of files, directories or the web page was deleted, |
| • | the remote computer does not respond to the pings. |
In this case the applications are launched and the messages are dispatched as indicated in the task.
One-to-many
This is a combination of Creating and Deleting types. It transfers new/changed and deletes files into Destination location(s) if files appear/changed/removed in the Source
One-to-one
This mode of monitoring makes synchronization Source and Destination resources. Any changes in Source are reflected to Destination and any changes in Destination are reflected to Source. This synchronization type requires the single resource in the destination list. The recourse should be the top line of the list. Please note, if Source or Destination location is FTP server the comparison can be made in file size only.
No changes
The event will occur at each check of a task according to the schedule as long as the monitored object remains unmodified. On detection of changes the applications are launched and the messages are dispatched as indicated in the task, the task itself is stopped and the object is not monitored anymore.
Differential
Compares Source with every item from the Destinations list. If a file from Source neither exists nor equals the file with the same name in Destination Network File Monitor Pro replicates this file to this Destination. Please note, if Source or Destination location is FTP server the comparison can be made in file size only.
Network File Monitor Pro performs the following operations with the files:
|
|
| • | None - no file operations. Only jobs from the Actions tab are performed: send messages, execute applications, etc. |
| • | Copy - copy files located in a task source to the destinations. |
| • | Move - copy files located in a task source to the destinations then delete these files from the source. |
| • | Delete - delete files located in the task source. |
If a destination file already exists, use the Replacement field to select one of the following options:
|
|
| • | Always - the existing file is always substituted with a new one. |
| • | Older files - if the existing file has older date, it is substituted with a new one. |
| • | Rename - the new file is renamed. The renaming conditions are set in the window of program settings (see Program settings). |
Filename(N) - the number of file copy is added to the end of the file name.
CopyN - Copy and a number of copy are added to the end of the file name.
yyyy-mm-dd_, etc. - date in a specified format is added before the file name. Here d - date, m – month number, y - digit of year, h - hours, n - minutes, s - seconds.
| • | Append - a new file content will be added to the end of the existing file. |
| • | Changed parts - the changed parts of a source file will replace the corresponding parts of the destination file. Read more in a Byte replication section. |
If you have chosen the Rename option you can set File name rule, by which the renaming of files will be made at the originating of event. It can be selected from the list of existing templates or set manually, using the above mentioned date and time conventions (see Macro strings). Also you can choose which file will be renamed: old (already existing) file or new (replicated) file.

|
Autostart - mark the box to enable automatic launch of the task at each Network File Monitor Pro startup. If this box is not marked, the task can be launched manually according to your schedule settings (see Schedule type section for details).
|
If the Initial synchronization check box is marked, at the first start of the task an event is created and the operations, indicated in the task are performed.
Continue after restart - usually on a task startup the information about the controlled files and objects is gathered. If it is necessary to continue monitoring after the termination of the task, of the whole program, or the computer shutdown mark the Continue after restart check box. In this case the task will continue monitoring the objects using the data gathered before the moment of restart or termination. If Check immediately after restart option is selected the task will be run immediately after the task has been launched .
Check conditions - execute the task if predefined conditions are valid.
Sound - if the box is marked, the computer will beep each time when a task is fulfilled.
Virtual mode - a task runs in simulated mode when no files are actually copied, deleted or moved, no e-mails are sent, no actions are executed.
