Pre-processing

Before a file will be replicated to the destination it can be compressed or encrypted using Compression and Encryption extensions to save transfer time, bandwidth and making the file transfer secure. The following options are available:

Pre-processing field
Pre-processing field

Compress - reduces file size using various compression algorithms. After file is compressed it will be transferred to the destination. A type of the compression can be specified on the Advanced settings page.

Uncompress - extracts file from the archive. After the file is extracted it will be transferred to the destination.

Encrypt - secures file transfer to the destination by encrypting the file content. File encryption is performed before sending file to the destination location. There are four strong encryption algorithms supported: Blowfish, DES, Triple-DES, AES.  A type of the encryption algorithm can be selected on the Advanced settings page. To use this option the File encryption extension is required.

Decrypt - restores the encrypted source file content. After the decryption is done the file is transferred to the destination. A type of the encryption algorithm can be selected on the Advanced settings page.

Compress and encrypt - this option combines the compression and encryption functions. At the first step,  Network File Monitor Pro compresses the file, at the second step it encrypts the compressed file and transfers to the destination. Compression and encryption methods can be selected on the Advanced settings page.

Decrypt and uncompressed - performs the operations vise versa the Compress and encrypt option.

Pre-processing properties

Password - a key phrase used for encryption or decryption if these options are selected in the Pre-processing field. Both the (un)compression and (de)encryption use the same password.

Store full path - if compression option is selected in the Pre-processing field the files will be compressed with the full path (drive/server names are not included).

Make archive and file timestamps the same - make a timestamp of the archive file the same as the timestamp of a compressed file.

To a single file - all intended for replication files can be kept to a single archive file which will be transferred to a specified location. The file name can be entered to Archive name field. If this field is blank the archive name is %DATE%_%TIME% (see Macro strings section).
